About the Author
Italo Svevo was born, Hector Schmitz, in Trieste. At 31 he wrote and published at his own expense A Life New edition. It was followed 4 years later by As a Man Grows Older. After a 20 year silence, Confessions of Zeno was published in 1923. Svevo was just beginning to become recognized in Italy when he was killed in 1928 in a car accident.
