The Wrong Grave: A Psychological Thriller

He confessed. She believed him. She dug in the wrong place.

Every word of his confession was true. That was the problem.

Frankie Tatro is thirty years old, four years qualified, and the only large-animal vet in a Vermont valley that is running out of farms. She owes $291,000. Forty per cent of her work comes from one client.

On a Thursday in February she drives out to put down an old man's dog. She is kneeling on his kitchen floor with the second syringe in her hand when he tells her, calmly and exactly, that he killed somebody and buried them himself.

He gives her the place. The depth. The hour he started digging.

He never gives a name.

Merrow has had one missing person in living memory — a boy who walked out of a deer camp in 1998 and was never found. There is a plaque about him at the school. So that is who they search for, on three days of frozen ground, in front of three television cameras.

They find nothing.

Because he wasn't talking about a boy who went missing. He was talking about a woman who didn't.

A gripping, unputdownable psychological thriller for readers who love Jane Harper, Chris Whitaker and Attica Locke.
