About the Author
Dong Ping, a Distinguished Qiushi Professor, Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Philosophy, Zhejiang University, and a recipient of the Special Government Allowance of the State Council, now serves as President of Zhejiang Jishan Wang Yangming Research Institute, Vice President of the International Confucian Federation, Vice President of the Chinese Society for the History of Philosophy, Vice President of the Zhonghua Confucius Society, and Research Fellow of Zhejiang Provincial Museum of Literature and History.
His main research areas include pre-Qin Confucianism and Taoism, Neo-Confucianism of the Song and Ming dynasties, the Eastern Zhejiang School, and Chinese Buddhist philosophy. His representative monographs include A Critical Biography of Chen Liang, A Study of the Tiantai School, A History of Thought and Scholarship in Zhejiang: From Wang Chong to Wang Guowei, WangYangming’s Living World – The Path to Sagehood, An Interpretation of the Laozi, An Extensive Discussion on Pre-Qin Confucianism, Song-Ming Confucianism and Eastern Zhejiang Scholarship, and Taoism, Buddhism, and Indian Philosophy. He has also compiled and collated ancient texts such as The Complete Works of Wang Yangming (co-edited), Collected Works of Zou Shouyi, and The Complete Works of Yang Jian.
He delivered lectures titled “Guan Zhong, the Famous Minister” and “Wang Yangming, the Legendary Philosopher” on CCTV’s Lecture Room (Baijia Jiangtan).
