The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child 1979, globally the most popular of human rights treaties, requires States Parties to take action to secure the rights of minors. It explains the provisions and practical impact of the ground-breaking Rights of Children and Young Persons (Wales) Measure 2011, the first law within the UK designed to give further effect to the UNCRC. About the Author
Jane Williams is Senior Lecturer in the School of Law at Swansea University. She is also co-director of Wales Observatory on Human Rights of Children and Young People and a member of Wales UNCRC Monitoring Group.
