Amazon Review

Carol Troy writes about day trading from first-hand knowledge. She actually gets up every morning and, over a heady brew of coffee, warms her computer up, checks her portfolio, reviews the relevant news and then places a few trades. This book is a toolbox for those who already trade online, or are considering buying and selling shares via the Internet. But rather than being a dry, dusty tome, Troy enlivens it with her own opinions about various services which are good and those which are not. There are complete summaries of Web sites as well as on-line trading brokerages which she uses. Troy, who has worked as a reporter and editor for The New York Daily News and other publications, writes very well. Despite this, the book is filled with acronyms–which are explained, but which nevertheless remain complex. But that is the world we live in, where expressions such as “dot com” and “www” have joined the vernacular. Troy trades in America, the land of the day trader. The book only applies to American securities and services. Because the Internet is international, there is nothing to stop a non-American from following her plan of action. However, while the concepts are universal, readers who follow her plan of attack would only be able to do so with American securities–at least today. Who knows about tomorrow. —Bruce McWilliams
