About the Author
Melvyn Jones is Visiting Professor in Environmental History at Sheffield Hallam University. He is also a Fellow of the People, Landscape and Cultural Environment Research and Education Centre at St John’s University, York. He is the author of more than 60 books and more than 200 articles on South Yorkshire. His books include Sheffield’s Woodland Heritage (Wildtrack Publishing, 1989), The Making of the South Yorkshire Landscape (Wharncliffe, 2000) and (with Joan Jones) Historic Parks and Gardens in and around South Yorkshire (Wharncliffe, 2005).
