Twelve lectures from the June/July 2011 school explain the properties and motion of the nucleon internal constituents, quarks and gluons. Three of the papers introduce the theory and phenomenology of transverse-momentum-dependent distributions (TMDs) and model quark TMDs using nucleon light-cone wave functions. The opening paper describes typical experimental equipment and methods for measuring inclusive deep inelastic and semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering of polarized leptons off polarized targets.
