Theories in Educational Psychology’s purpose is to introduce readers to the pioneering educational psychology theories that continue to shape our understanding of the classroom learning environment, present support for the theories from perspectives in the current research literature, and share how these theoretical traditions have translated into effective teaching methods. I agree fully with the author that theories often are covered apart from practical classroom applications, and students do not make the proper linkages. About the Author
Alyssa Gonzalez-DeHass received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Florida in 1998. She publishes in the area of parenting influences and student motivation and has been teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in educational psychology for approximately 15 years. Patricia P. Willems received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Florida in 2000. Her research and publications have been in the areas of learning, motivation, school-community partnerships, and the case study method of instruction, and she has been teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in educational psychology for 12 years.
