Richard Handley has been an admirer of Henry Lawsons work from his youth, after reading about Louisa Lawson, the author went to Mudgee, researched her life, and wrote this book to redress the prevalent view of Henrys mother in an attempt to clearly establish her place as one of the grand figures of Australian history and a pioneer of the womens movement. Richard lives in Paddington, New South Wales.
