Richard Handley has been an admirer of Henry Lawson’s work from his youth, after reading about Louisa Lawson, the author went to Mudgee, researched her life, and wrote this book to redress the prevalent view of Henry’s mother in an attempt to clearly establish her place as one of the grand figures of Australian history and a pioneer of the women’s movement. Richard lives in Paddington, New South Wales.
