Book Description

This book introduces a new category into the scientific turnover: green entrepreneurial economy. It is treated as an economy of environmental transformations of the business environment in support of sustainable development. The key subject of the green entrepreneurial economy is environmentally responsible business, which implements Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in its economic practice. The book is devoted to a comprehensive study of the modern experience and an in-depth elaboration of prospects of the sustainable development of the green entrepreneurial economy. It identifies the current problems and systematises the directions for the sustainable development of this economy. The authors discuss the international experience of the sustainable development of the green entrepreneurial economy in developed and developing countries, with special attention given to the unique and leading experiences of the countries in Central Asia and Russia, as well as the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Sectorial prospects of the sustainable development of the green entrepreneurial economy for agriculture, the energy sphere, the circular industry, and green banking are disclosed in the book. The authors offer recommendations and applied solutions based on digital technologies like blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, and robots.

About the Author

Elena N Makarenko PhD (economics), Professor, Rector of Rostov State University of Economics, Russia. She is the author of more than 160 scientific works and methodological guides. In 1988, she graduated from Chechen State University and in 1991, she defended her PhD thesis on “Full rental contract as a form of in-plant economic settlement”. In 2011, she defended her doctoral thesis on the topic “Internal and external auditing under the IFRS and ISA”. She was appointed professor in 2023. Elena N Makarenko’s main scientific interests lie in the sphere of financial accounting and audit: theory, financial and management accounting, and international and Russian standards of accounting and audit.

Natalia G Vovchenko, Doctor of Economics, is an economist and Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation. She is a 1990 graduate of the Rostov-on-Don Order of the Badge of Honor of the Institute of National Economy, specializing in Industrial Planning. Her specialty is “Accounting, Control and Analysis of Economic Activity”. In 1994, she defended her PhD thesis to the Dissertation Council of Rostov State University on “Land Reform and Improvement of Relations of Agrarian Nature Management in the Conditions of Market Formation”. In 2002, she became an Associate Professor. In 2006, she defended her D.Sc thesis to the Dissertation Council of Rostov State University of Economics on “The Impact of Financial Globalization Processes on the Transformation of the Financial System of Russia”. In 2015, she was awarded the academic title of professor. She has a teaching experience spanning 31 years.

Olga V Andreeva, PhD in Economics, is the Head of the Center for Strategic Research of Socio-Economic Development of Southern Russia at the Rostov State University of Economics; Associate Professor of the Department of Finance; Public Representative of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives on the Environment and Climate. In 1996, she graduated from the Rostov State Academy of Economics with a degree in Finance and Credit. In 2002, she defended her PhD thesis to the Dissertation Council of the Rostov State University of Economics on “Sources of financing medical services in modern Russia”. In 2006, she became an Associate Professor. Her pedagogical experience spans 27 years, and she has been working at the Department of Finance since 1996. Dr Andreeva’s research interests include sustainable development, green economy, and ESG agenda, with more than 10 scientific papers published in leading journals including E3S Web of Conferences, Fundamental Research, CITISE, Social Entrepreneurship and Corporate Social Responsibility, and Financial Economy.

Prof. Dr Elena G Popkova, Doctor of Economics, is the Founder and President of the Institute of Scientific Communications (Volgograd, Russia), Professor of the Department of Economics, and Chair of International Economic Relations at RUDN University, Moscow, Russia. Author of more than 150 publications in Scopus (h-index: 36); editor of more than 50 books and a large number of special issues of international peer-reviewed scientific journals; member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Economic Policy in Emerging Economies and the International Journal for Quality Research; recipient of Highly Commended Paper Award for the journal On the Horizon for 2020 (Emerald); honoured worker of science and high technologies of the Russian Federation; honoured professor of Osh State University (Osh, Kyrgyzstan). She is among Scopus’s top 2% of most-cited scholars of the world in 2019–2021.
