Book Description
The author is a college Art & Animation faculty member who has taught drawing for thirty years and animation for fifteen. He began drawing at age eight and has worked as a professional illustrator since nineteen. He has personally taught 10,000 people of all ages, abilities and disabilities, how to draw, having given workshops in a dozen states and three other countries.
The Introduction includes workshop procedures for teachers, followed by simple exercises to build student skills and confidence. Included are exercises from beginning to advanced. Use Alphabet Faces for vocabulary and language development. Use Character Symbolism and Stereotypes for discussion and storytelling, whether talking in a classroom or typing online.
For those who want to learn about a commercial art career, many portfolio examples are included, with comments about their creation and usage. His own History of Visual Learning is documented, with references.
Without reading a word, and by looking at the drawings, you will be able to draw every picture, merely by starting with the eyes. Following are some quotes from first-time learners:
“…participants thought the program presented new and truly innovative ideas…” Jean P. – Coordinator
“…we were very impressed and enthused with your techniques…” Judy M. – Director
“…I could never draw before, but now I feel like Michaelangelo.” Kim O. – Student
This is the first in a series of Art, Music, Humor and Education books from Artademia, dedicated to redesigning education with integrated Arts activities.
