Book Description

With more and more women with young children returning to work, hundreds of thousands of children in England and Wales are being cared for by childminders. The demand for good quality, flexible childcare is huge. If you are a childminder in the early stages of setting up your business, or you are considering caring for children in your own home, this book will help you to: decide whether a career working with children is for you; decide whether working from your own home will suit you, your family and your lifestyle; understand the Regulations and Standards imposed by Ofsted; guide you through the registration process; prepare you for Ofsted inspections; help you to target the right market and advertise your services; and manage the financial side of your business.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

I have worked as a childminder for over a decade and during this time I have witnessed first hand the dramatic rise in demand for good quality childcare. Today more and more mothers are returning to work after having children and are choosing childminders as their ideal childcare option.

Childminding is often very exhausting and can at times be a lonely and stressful profession however, the rewards are good and the satisfaction of working with young children is immense.

I would recommend childminding to anyone who enjoys being with children and who has the commitment and space needed to set up a business.

During my time as a childminder I have had the opportunity of mentoring and supporting newly qualified childminders and it is whilst working in this role that I have realised there is a gap on the market for a book offering help and advice to childminders. Starting Your Own Childminding Business, although written primarily for individuals looking to set up their own business, also offers help and advice to those who are already enjoying an established career.

Good quality childcare is still in enormous demand and I hope this book will enourage others to set up their own childcare business.
