"Shanghai and the Yangzi Delta" was originally published in 2004 in Singapore as the first volume in the New Yangzi River Trilogy. This is a 2023 reprint edition generated from a digital scan of a mint condition original print copy. Although the text may be out of date in terms of practical information, the text and photos preserve a city that no longer exists due to the rapid economic development, urbanization, preparations for the 2010 Expo, and misguided "historic preservation" methods (e.g. completely demolish the genuine original relics and replace them with brand new fake copies) that have since largely destroyed the city's historic architecture and neighborhoods.
