Plan for a late summer getaway-right in your shop-and set your sample-makers to work! Sew a Backyard Adventure by Susan Maw and Sally Bell is rife with project/display/event ideas. Picture a tent or two, animal tracks on the floor and walls along with backpacks hung in a row. Or, find a few giant stuffed bears and let the wildlife wear the backpacks and inhabit the tents! Host an event for kids and parents. Serve microwave s’mores and read camping or ghost stories by soft candle light. Sing songs. Be certain to choose a project the kids can make as well. Encourage moms and grandmoms to make the backpacks and hats in advance, then pass out a few goodies-like toy compasses, whistles, water bottles and maps to fill the packs. About the Author
Susan Maw and Sally Bell have created together since they were kids. After taking a break to raise their families, they started their current business, Maw-Bell Designs. They love all aspects of art, but playing with color and fabric is the most rewarding.
