After an overview of the historical development, definition and characteristics of Islamist extremism, the author traces the establishment of the Salafist network in Bavaria, which he scientifically researched in 2016 and 2017. It is shown that the radical religious narrative, by misusing passages from the sacred texts of Islam (Quran and Sunna), generates both enemy images within Islam and attacks on Christians and Jews. Of course, it is not the aim of the book to demonize Islam and Muslims and to accuse them all of terrorism. However, it is important to understand in what way Salafists affix their ideology with religious legitimacy in order to put prevention or countermeasures, not least there or there.
