Pulmonary Physiology for Clinicians: A Focused Guide

This textbook teaches the basic concepts of pulmonary physiology to young physicians. Many young pulmonologists, internists, anesthetists, etc., graduate with only a superficial understanding of basic concepts. Given this void, many practitioners miss valuable information available to them in their pulmonary function test results. This book – unlike any other – is organized in the format of a test result report from a pulmonary function laboratory. The first four chapter headings, static function, dynamic function, diffusion and arterial blood gas analysis, are essentially the headings of a standard pulmonary test. Descriptions of physiological principles are intertwined with descriptions of the performance and clinical interpretation of each test.
