The Path of Helena

In Helena’s Footprints, Gloria Blume traced the journey of personal growth and self-discovery of a young, determined Latina protagonist who faces many hardships while also achieving small victories that gradually strengthen her confidence in herself—as a mother, as a professional, and as a woman in command of her own sexuality.

In Helena’s Path, we find a fully grown woman, in control of her life and personal space. She has learned from the lessons encountered along the way and moves courageously toward a well-earned independence, growing in ambition and taking on ever greater responsibilities, while also stumbling at times and allowing herself a certain degree of adventure and risk.

At the same time, Helena’s Path is a story of courage and resilience that unfolds across varied geographies and multicultural settings, while remaining faithful to its anchor in the powerful Latin roots of a Peruvian family established in Florida.

The work is also an ode to family, friendship, gastronomy, and love—to that unconditional love that arrives when it is neither sought nor expected.
