The OPATUS CPTa objectively measures impulsivity, activity, and inattention (which happen to be the core symptoms of ADHD). This also opens up areas of application for other indications such as mental fatigue, Parkinson’s, schizophrenia or assessments of attention, for example after concussions or other organic brain disorders. Remote administration is possible to enable patients living in rural areas, where a clinic visit is an all-day project, to take the same test at home as big city patients locally. The CPTa is easily accessible, runs on iPhones and iPod touches. The test uses the built-in sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope) for the activity measurements. The CPTa is not a laboratory test. In addition, the system allows testing in real situations, for example during a lesson at school. For mobile examinations, the CPTa can easily be used for testing, for example at workplaces, in schools or by patients at home. This means that the examination is carried out in a realistic environment and false positive or negative results can be reduced. The test has had CE certification in the EU since 2018. In my book “ADD is curable” in 2019, I pointed out the special advantages of this test and hope that in the future it will become the general diagnostic standard for ADHD and other neuropsychiatric diseases and thus help to optimize diagnostics and therapy and individualized medicine to provide support.
