In 1901, Stanford Professor of English Literature , William Henry Hudson published his book on the history of the founding of the twenty-one missions in California by Father Junipero Serra, a Spanish Franciscan friar. The first mission was built in 1769 in San Diego. In 1988, Fr. Serra was beatified by Pope John Paul II and given the title Blessed Fray Junípero Serra.

Linda Pendleton has researched, edited, and written an Introduction to the professor’s book. A native Californian, she is author of nonfiction and fiction books, comics, and ecourses. She coauthored the popular nonfiction book, To Dance With Angels with her husband, Don Pendleton. Don and Linda Pendleton also wrote the nonfiction, Whispers From the Soul, and the crime novel, Roulette. Linda’s fiction includes Shattered Lens: Catherine Winter, Private Eye, and The Dawning. Linda is a member of the Authors Guild Inc. and Authors Foundation.
