About the Author
Srinath Perera is the Founding Director of the Centre for Smart Modern Construction at the Western Sydney University. He holds a PhD from the University of Salford and is a pioneer in the field of construction informatics by integrating AI technologies to construction and project management. He has over 30 years of experience internationally in the construction sector, of which 18 years was based in the United Kingdom. He is Board member of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB, www.cibworld.org).
Until 2016, he was the Chair Professor at Northumbria University. He is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor/ Project Manager and a member of the following Institutes: Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and the Australian Institute of Project Managers. He is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Builders and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of New South Wales in 2017. His academic research interests in information technologies have led him to publish over 200 peer reviewed publications with reputable publishers. His current research focuses on blockchain applications in construction, BIM, offsite construction, construction business models and construction performance leading to Industry 4.0. He co-authored a research monograph ― Advances in Construction ICT and e-Business, and two internationally recognised textbooks ― Cost Studies of Buildings and Contractual Procedures in the Construction Industry, published by Routledge.
Robert Eadie is an Academic Lead for Civil Engineering at Ulster University and a MSc Civil and Infrastructure Engineering Course Director. He is responsible for putting together the first Civil Engineering Apprenticeship to Master’s Degree Level in the United Kingdom.
He obtained a PhD related to e-procurement in construction and his research focuses on BIM, e-procurement, digital photography and photogrammetry in construction, project management and pedagogy. As a fellow of Engineers Ireland, he was the Chair of the Northern Region from 2017–2019. Currently, he fulfils the role of immediate past Chair and represents them on the Professional College of Construction Industry Group for Northern Ireland (CIGNI). He holds position in multiple Institutions as: Chartered Committee Member, Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation in Northern Ireland and a member of the Association for Project Management. Since 2012, he was voted to represent Northern Ireland as the treasurer for the Association of Civil Engineering Departments. He has over eighty peer-reviewed academic publications.
