Landscape and History since 1500

Landscape and History explores five centuries of history, development and change in our perceptions of landscape and how they have been linked to political ideologies, economic and social structures, cartography, art and literature. Ian Whyte also proposes how we can today evaluate and classify existing historical landscapes and develop a policy for their conservation and management, raising issues of sustainability and continuity — questions that are now more critical than ever.
