Book Description
This book is about a retrospective view of the fundamental work of Keynes and is divided into three sections. The first one indicates the emergence of macroeconomics with Keynes, the main assumptions and theoretical advances. The second section explores the rise of Keynesian economic policies in the 25 years after World War II, together with certain trends of the time (the cold war arms race, the welfare state and the ideological competition with respect to the Soviet bloc) and its decline, losing ground vis a vis monetarism. The third section closes the article indicating that Keynes toggled between liberal and socialist positions, to postulate a Keynesian utopia in developed countries of a future without economic problems, with zero interest rate, but disregarding monopoly and developing countries.
