About the Author
Andrew Horvat is the director of Stanford Universitys overseas studies program in Kyoto. Previously, Horvat was Japan-based correspondent for The Associated Press, the Los Angeles Times and public radios business news program, “Marketplace.” Horvat has had a life-long interest in language acquisition. He received a citation for excellence in business broadcasting from the Overseas Press Club of America for his documentary ?Japanese Language: Bridge or Barrier. As an Abe Fellow, Horvat has researched and written about the increasing use of the Japanese language by non-native speakers.
