Editorial Reviews
Review
“In the vast and evolving landscape of the Internet of Things (IoT), finding resources that not only cover the breadth of the subject but also delve into practical, hands-on applications can be challenging. This book, however, manages to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world implementation, serving as a comprehensive guide for anyone looking to kickstart or advance their career in IoT.
The author commendably introduces IoT concepts, architectures, and real-life applications, making it accessible to both beginners and intermediate practitioners. The balance between introducing topics, detailed explanations, and practical examples is well-maintained throughout the book. The use of popular hardware like ESP32 and Raspberry Pi, along with a focus on AWS integration, ensures readers are learning through modern and widely used technologies that are easily available. The dedicated section on security is a testament to the author’s understanding of its critical importance in IoT deployments.”

“IoT from Scratch provides a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art in the Internet Of Things. Not a book that you’re going to sit down and read from cover to cover in a weekend (or a week), it’s crammed full of examples, theory, and just about anything else you’re going to need to understand how the IoT works. The beginner will be happy to see the wiring diagrams and extensive explanations of how sensors and Arduino-based microcontrollers work while those with more experience can derive value from the architectural and implementation discussions.
Gondosubroto does an admirable job of making this book as readable as possible. It’s logically written and flows well from topic to topic and chapter to chapter. The diagrams are clear and helpful. Each chapter contains information as to what will be covered and what requirements exist for those who want to try the exercises on their own. All in all, IoT from Scratch gives you exactly what the title says: everything you need to understand how SoCs interface with the Internet and a variety of sensors.”
