Editorial Reviews
From the Back Cover
“In The Innocent, Madison Jones has written an intensely interesting story, and one that clearly declares his talent. . .”–Robert Penn Warren
“This first novel marked the emergence of a fully mature novelist of a very rare kind: a writer of true and uncompromising tragedy. As powerfully moving as Hawthorne or Hardy, but with even greater psychological subtlety, ‘The Innocent’ shows the self-deception of the admirable but flawed protagonist and its result in the closing of inexorable doom.”–Monroe K. Spears
