About the Author
As an entrepreneur and CEO, Jim's companies have been instrumental in developing new industry categories and creating tens of thousands of jobs. Sorenson Communications, which he founded, was a pioneer in digital compression software and internet-based Video Relay Services (VRS), which transformed opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing individuals. The Sorenson Impact Institute, which Jim endowed, educates students on the disciplines of impact capitalism, giving them direct hands-on experience in making and managing impact investments. It also oversees the leading impact capitalism conference, SOCAP, as well as the annual Sorenson Impact Summit.
Jim has served on many community boards, including University of Utah's David Eccles School of Business Advisory Board, Gallaudet University, the University Venture Fund, Art Works for Kids, the Utah Sports Commission, and Trustee of the University of Utah.
