The House with Blue Shutters: A story of a house by the sea and a love that survived the years apart

She came to sell a house, not to reclaim the heart she left behind.

Twenty-five years ago, Alessia Romano made the safe choice: she chose expectation over courage, married the man her family approved of, and vanished into Milan without a single goodbye. She left behind a broken-hearted Matteo Bellini and the only life that ever truly felt like her own.

Now divorced and standing at a crossroads, Alessia returns to the sun-bleached coastal town of Porto Luce to settle an inheritance—Casa Bianca, an aging villa with faded blue shutters perched above the Tyrrhenian Sea. The goal is simple: sign the paperwork, clear out the ghosts, and return to her structured city life.

She didn't plan on running into Matteo.

The boy she loved is now a quiet, guarded man who restores wooden boats and fiercely protects the historic harbor his family built. He has built a life without Alessia—and a thick armor around his heart. He has no intention of letting her back in, nor forgiving the silence that shattered him decades ago.

When a commercial developer threatens to tear down the harbor, forcing Alessia and Matteo into an uneasy alliance, every shared moment pulls old feelings to the surface. Surrounded by hidden family letters, coastal warmth, and the rhythm of a small town fighting for its soul, they can no longer pretend their story is finished.

The House with Blue Shutters is an evocative, emotional second-chance romance rich with Mediterranean atmosphere, mature love, and small-town charm. It’s a story about the mistakes that shape us, the courage it takes to heal, and the enduring power of a home you never truly left.
