Flourishing Together: Karl Marx’s Vision of the Good Society provides a novel interpretation of Marx’s vision of the good society that sees self-realization in work as a vital component of human flourishing. Understood this way, Marx’s vision of the good society can withstand many of the criticisms traditionally directed at it and stands as an attractive alternative to liberal egalitarian theories of justice.
Throughout the book, Kandiyali shows the relevance of Marx for several current issues and debates, including the role of work in a good life, the desirability of universal basic income, and the problems inherent in the idea of a post-work society. In doing so, he shows Marx to be highly relevant for contemporary political philosophy.
