This book examines the use of the female I in Modern Greek prose and draws a connection between the emergence of the first-person female narrator in fiction and the emergence of women into the public realm of society. It contributes to the study of Greek women’s writing using a feminist narratological approach, together with Bakhtin’s notion of the polyphonic novel, which is applied to narrations.
