About the Author

Johnny Isenberger, DNP, ACNP-BC, CCRN is an assistant professor at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing.  Dr. Isenberger has worked in critical care as a nurse and nurse practitioner for over 16 years and is currently an acute care nurse practitioner for the surgical critical care service at UMass Memorial Medical center.  He is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurse (AACN) and has been a speaker at local, regional, and national conferences.  He has also authored and co-authored several publications in critical care and nurse practitioner journals.   

Dawn Carpenter, DNP, ACNP-BC, CCRN is a practicing Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in the surgical/trauma intensive care unit and trauma service line at Guthrie Healthcare System in Sayre, Pennsylvania, and an Associate professor at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing.  Dawn’s career has spanned over 30+ years as a critical care nurse, nurse practitioner and faculty.  Dawn possesses a passion for educating and mentoring acute and critical care nurses and nurse practitioners as they advance their careers.
