This study deals with the 14th century, an insufficiently investigated period of Georgian history. Based on extant Georgian as well as foreign sources and by taking into account epigraphic and numismatic materials, the author has thoroughly reconstructed the events that occurred from the end of the 13th century until the end of the 14th century, namely until Timur’s (Tamerlane) intervention in the Caucasus, focusing on the political, economic and cultural environment of Georgia and the Near East during the period.
