The themes of Materialize, Mobilize, Simulate and Transform highlight the shift from the manipulation of quantitative variables to interactive relationships effecting qualitative outcomes in design. For example, Materialize explores the potential of eco-design beyond the traditional palette of materials to show how spatial boundaries can be re-imagined as gradients of conditioned versus unconditioned space, working with climatic conditions rather than material boundaries to help generate new forms of urban architecture.

About the Author
Der Autor, Dipl.-Ing. Thomas Schröpfer, studierte an der Universität der Künste Berlin, der Cooper Union und der Harvard University und ist heute Professor für Architektur und nachhaltiges Entwerfen an der University of Technology and Design in Singapur. Weitere Beiträge stammen u.a. von Achim Menges (Institute for Computational Design der Uni Stuttgart), Federico Parolotto (Mobility in Chain), Eduardo Rico (Groundlab London), Sheila Kennedy (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) und Matthias Sauerbruch (Sauerbruch Hutton).
Thomas Schröpfer is Associate Professor at the Singapore University of Technology and Design.
