Book Description
The summer holidays got off to a strange start. Although it was me who had phoned, Poppy just launched straight into, ‘That spot near my eyebrow is getting bigger.’ ‘Shut up, Poppy,’ I said. ‘Listen – Luke just kissed me!’ It’s the first time anything this exciting has ever happened to fourteen-year-old Holly Stockwell. She’s had a crush on gorgeous Luke forever, and at last he’s noticed she’s not just his sister’s best friend! But Holly and Poppy are off to Cornwall for a group camping holiday, where Poppy falls for mysterious skater-goth Danny – a fascination that Holly just can’t understand! However, when they get back, Holly discovers that Luke’s been getting a bit too friendly with sophisticated Lorraine. Holly was sure that she and Luke had a real connection. Was it just a fantasy? And, when being cool and having the right image seem so important, how will she find the confidence to drop the camouflage and be herself?
Editorial Reviews
Review
“Will entertain and inform young teenage girls in an absorbing and supportive way.” Books for Keeps “This book was really, really funny. It was a great insight into a teenage girl’s life- filled with embarrassing moments and plans that always seemed to go downhill.” Jocelyn Mitchell, Liberton High”
About the Author
Helen Salter works in the marketing department of an IT company. She grew up in South London, but didn’t really grow up at all, and still firmly believes she will one day live next door to a chocolate factory with Jude Law. Before writing, Helen had a variety of jobs, including selling aerial photographs door-to-door in the Chicago suburbs, teaching English to teenagers in Paris and working as a tour guide for American students in Europe. Helen now likes sitting cross-legged writing on her lap-top, pretending she is Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City (but in East Croydon, not New York).
