The author examines the job satisfaction of female faculty at four-year post-secondary universities in the US with data taken from the 2004 National Study of Post secondary Faculty showing that female faculty have lower levels of satisfaction but little research has been done to determine the reasons for this. By examining the various demographic and institutional elements, the author has helped to determine factors involved so that educational institutions can alter their practices to adjust to changing demographics.
