From the Author

The cybersecurity community has been meaningful to me for most of my life. Having grown up in the hacker culture of the late 80’s and early 90’s, it was my emotional home during those awkward teenage years. As a result, the health and growth of this community means everything to me. So when I saw the conflicting messages of organizations who were struggling to find cybersecurity talent and those trying to get into the industry who couldn’t find that first role, I knew I had to act.

One result of those efforts is the Cybersecurity Career Guide. With this book, I hope to help those who are seeking their first role in the industry to easily overcome some of the personal hurdles that hold people back. Through sharing research and providing practical exercises, it’s my desire to give early career job seekers the knowledge they need to streamline that effort, land that first job, and also be prepared for future success.
