Book Description
Interior designing is probably one of the most underrated topics about building a home because people pay utmost importance to the location of their new home and spend endless amount of money to build a home according to complex architectural designs. Needless to say, we spend hefty sums of money on furniture and home appliances. However, most of us do not realize the importance of interior designing in homes.
Interior designing can work wonders in a new home. Interior designing is not just about increasing the aesthetics of your home, but it is also about making your home a practical, friendly living space. The primary intention of using space saving techniques in interior design is to improve the overall aesthetics of your home and de-clutter the interiors so that your home will radiate fresh energy to all its occupants. This is essential for a new home because a cluttered home brings negative energy and nobody wants to associate themselves with negative energy.
How many of you know that clutter is not just about bad organizational skills but there are psychological aspects behind a cluttered home? We do not want to give away things we used in the past because we want to give them to someone else, use them again in future or simply look at them to refresh your memories about your past. It all sounds great because ‘nostalgia’ is one of the hottest selling subjects in literature and movies. However, are you sure these old stuff can always bring back positive memories?
Let’s look at the story of Bob and Emily a couple that realized the importance of space saving and hired an interior designer to remodel their home. Needless to say, this also meant that they had to get rid of a lot of stuff that they once thought are important in their life. Bob had a huge possession of gadgets from the past. They ranged from VHS video cameras, Cassette players, computers and walkmans that he thought would be great memories in the future. However, these forgotten pieces of plastic were eating up space in their home and the kind of dirt they could attract in a couple of months was tremendous.
Cleaning up them from time to time and keeping up these junk items made Bob realize two things. First of all, he understood that the things that he held high value were not exclusive. None of these gadgets were from the prehistoric era. It had no collector’s value. Chances are that it will take another century for them to gain any collector’s value because there are too many video cameras and cassette players in the world. Unlike the old days where people had tight financial resources, people are OK with not selling something to raise funds.
Even in this recession bitten economy and joblessness in many households in the US, nobody will consider selling a cassette player to pool up funds because it is simply not going to happen. If the rules of finance were the first thing that Bob could realize about his gadgets, the second one was even more devastating: Bob could suddenly realize a disastrous financial decision. The money he spent on gadgets was significant but these gadgets did not hold any significant financial value to make him feel proud. Instead of feeling proud about his financial investments and the great collection of gadgets, Bob started to feel disappointed.
If Bob’s story goes like this Emily’s was an altogether different one. For her, the clothes from the past helped her to nurture good things about her life but more often those clothes reminded her about the bad things that took place in her life. She could realize that she was slimmer and fitter one point of time and this brought such negative impact to her life.
If you think the story of Emily and Bob is unique, think again! This is how most of us lead our lives. Instead of brining back good memories from our past, a cramped home is full of negative energy and even good things are turned into bad memories. You may still look the same as you were 5 years back but the outfit that
