This is a very glossy and appealing book, the phrase ‘Eye candy’ springs to mind. The swarovski crystals used, with their array of shapes and colours, create sparkling jewellery which would appeal to all ages. Some of the 20 projects have the more traditional approach, whereas others are very much aimed at the younger generation, but adding a touch of class to all of them. They are divided into three groups: Classic, Special Occasion and Fashion-Forward. All of the designs are beautifully illustrated with high quality photographs throughout. They consist mainly of necklaces and bracelets, but also include earrings, a ring, a brooch and a most attractive lariat. Most of the projects involve stringing. The few that don’t have very clear colour coded diagrams, but would still be more suitable for the more experienced beader. Diagrams of all the basic beading stitches can be found at the back of the book, so, with a bit of help from a friend, most of us should be able to cope. There is a very useful list of all the available Swarovski crystal colours with their numbers, which makes planning and ordering a project so much easier. Many interesting facst about crystals, ‘did you know?’ and anecdotes abuot famous people and their jewellery are cleverly slotted in between the projects.
