His postgraduate training includes an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Rochester, NY, and a Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. He has held positions as Director of the Renal Laboratory of research at the Renal Research Institute and Professor of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Beth Israel Medical Centre of New York in 1999 and 2000.
