Book Description
The book consists of scientific essays dedicated to A S Holevo on the occasion of his 80th birthday, written by prominent researchers in theoretical-mathematical physics. It is a snapshot of contemporary research at the frontier of quantum information science, work that builds on Holevo’s pioneering contributions during the decades of his distinguished career.
While a portion of the book are the 15 articles published in a special issue of IJQI, the book contains additional material such as a summary of Holevo’s scientific life, with comments on research directions not covered in the 15 articles, and the list of his publications.

About the Author
Berthold-Georg Englert is a distinguished Chair Professor at the Beijing Institute of Technology, China, where he specializes in theoretical physics and quantum mechanics. His research focuses on fundamental aspects of quantum theory and its applications in various fields, including information technology and material sciences. In addition to his role in Beijing, he serves as a Visiting Research Professor at the National University of Singapore, contributing to collaborative research initiatives and mentoring emerging scientists. Englert is currently one of the Managing Editors of International Journal of Quantum Information.
Reinhard Werner is a prominent Professor of Theoretical Physics at Leibniz Universität Hannover in Germany. His research primarily focuses on quantum information theory, quantum optics, and the foundations of quantum mechanics. Werner is well-known for his contributions to understanding quantum entanglement and for developing the concept of Werner states, which are important in the study of quantum systems. He has published extensively in leading scientific journals and has played a key role in advancing the field of quantum physics through both his theoretical work and his involvement in academic discourse. Werner is currently on the editorial board of International Journal of Quantum Information.
