Book Description
Big Chief Sitting Bull and The Battle of The Little Bighorn
This is another wonderful Historical story by Author-Illustrator John L D Barnett.
The book tells the true story of Lt Col George Armstrong Custer and the 7th U.S. cavalry and the events that took place before, during, and after the Battle of the Little Bighorn.
The Lakota Sioux Indians had signed treaties with the U.S., government over the ownership of their lands. Regretfully, the treaties had been continually broken by the U.S. government after they allowed hundreds of white settlers and miners to steal American Indian lands.
The trouble started in 1874 when Lt Col Custer of the 7th U.S., Army Cavalry Regiment led an expedition into the Lakota Sioux Indian spiritual Black Hills, and announced that he had discovered gold in French Creek near the present-day Custer, South Dakota. His announcement triggered a massive Black Hills gold rush.
The 1868 Fort Laramie Treaty stating that the Black Hills belonged solely to the Lakota Sioux Indians had once again been broken. This led to the uprising of the Indian Nation on June 25-26 1876 and the Massacre of the U.S., 7th Army Cavalry Regiment. This is a story for all the family to read and enjoy and a book not to be missed.
