(The History and Development of Reggae and its Changing Relationship to the Mainstream Charts):

The point of this thesis is to explore the changing relationship of reggae to the mainstream commercial market: that is, to explore why it is that reggae sales in the mainstream commercial market appear to have declined since the 1980’s. In addition, to examine the historical significance, and processes of development (leading up to, during and beyond this decline) of Jamaican dance music that eventually changed its name to reggae.
