Spring, 1869.
Barclay Galveston, one of New York City’s most eligible young gentlemen, lives the good life, thanks to his father’s wealth. That is, until one night when Clay and his friends get carried away with their raucous entertainments and callously wreck a man’s business.
As always, his father is good for the damages. But this time with a twist. Tired of Clay’s profligate ways, the senior Galveston is determined to teach his son a lesson.
He banishes Clay to the wilds of Arizona Territory, where Clay must remain for one year. That alone is bad enough, but his father makes it clear he will receive no financial support from him . . . or anyone else. If he expects to survive his year of banishment, he must find a job.
A job??? Clay Galveston has never worked a day in his life! Nor does he have any skills to speak of.

She and her grandmother have decided they must abandon it and start over in California. However, Mr. Bond will not let her join his wagon train if she doesn’t have an able-bodied man on board.
