About the Author
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rainer Drath is a scientist in the field of Automation Engineering, one of the architects of CAEX and AutomationML, board member of the AutomationML Association. He studied automation engineering at TU Ilmenau from 1990-1995 and received his PhD from 1996-1999. From 2001-2017 he worked at ABB’s research center in Ladenburg as a scientist, group leader, program manager and senior principal scientist. In 2017, Rainer Drath was appointed Professor of Mechatronic Systems Development at Pforzheim University. There he teaches, among other things, Mechatronic Systems Engineering and, together with his team, is dedicated to researching innovative methods for improving interdisciplinary systems engineering as well as Industry 4.0. Rainer Drath is the editor of the first AutomationML book and author of more than 200 publications.
