About the Author
Jon Erickson served in the U.S. Navy before receiving a B.S. in physical science from Arkansas Polytechnic College and an M.S. in natural science from the University of Arkansas. He has written several books on Earth science and geology, including Facts On File/Checkmark Books’s entire Living Earth set. Erickson has worked as a geologist for major oil and mining companies and as an engineer for an aerospace company. He resides in western Colorado, working as an independent geologist and writer.
