About the Author
Board certified dermatologist Dr. Ranella Hirsch is a frequently quoted expert in the fields of cosmetic and laser dermatology. She often lectures to physicians in the fields of laser surgery and cosmetic dermatology, and is currently involved in a number of clinical studies of innovative laser technologies and skin care. The author of many scientific articles, abstracts, and textbook chapters, Dr. Hirsch serves on the editorial boards of several leading dermatology journals including Dermatology Times, Cosmetic Dermatology, Cutis, and Aesthetic Trends and Technologies. She writes the “Laser Technology” column in the journal Cosmetic Dermatology and co-authors (with Dr. Joel Cohen) the “Cosmetic Clinical Pearls” column in the journal Skin and Aging. Currently, she is working on several clinical trials for innovative skincare products to improve the condition and appearance of aging skin. She is serves as the dermatologist consultant to Vichy Laboratoires, a division of L’Oreal Paris. She is also a principal investigator for a number of prominent laser companies. Dr. Hirsch is one of only 70 Certified Restylane Faculty Trainers in the United States and the author of several articles and book chapters on the subject of Restylane and other dermal fillers. Dr. Ranella Hirsch received her medical degree from the State University of New York School of Medicine. She completed an internship in internal medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine, residency training in dermatology at the State University of New York, and advanced laser and cosmetic dermatology training at the Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard Medical School. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, the Women’s Dermatological Society, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, the International Society for Cosmetic Dermatology, and has recently been named President-Elect of the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery.
