About the Author

Jonathan McGove is a historian, currently teaching and researching at Nanjing University, and is also a research associate at the University of York. He studied History and English at the University of Oxford and holds a PhD from the University of York. In 2022 he was elected a full Fellow of the Royal Historical Society for his contributions to historical scholarship.
