This book situates the development of 20th and 21st century Chinese art in such fundamental contexts as Chinese politics and social change and is ideally suited for readers to understand the particularities of Chinese art that are distinct from Weste art history. Such an approach is appropriate to the understanding of the development of mode Chinese art, which differs from both the Weste approach to art history and the approach to traditional Chinese art, which is limited to the combing of ink and brush heritage and ideological traditions. About the Author
Lü Peng is an eminent art historian, historiographer, critic, and curator. Bo in 1956, he served as an associate professor for his alma mater, the Chinese Academy of Fine Arts, in Hangzhou. He is now a professor at the Macao University of Science and Technology, as well as at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. He is Doctor of Letters from the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou. He is the author of several books on mode and contemporary Chinese art history and artist biographies. He is also the curator of several biennales in China.
